Leave your bed reasonably early to make the most of this beautiful day: the hotel is ideally situated at the boundary of the Gard, the Bouches du Rhône and the Vaucluse. Take a hearty breakfast on the broad terrace overlooking the garden, with a pretty view of the swimming pool. The squirrels are waiting for you to leave before pouncing on any crumbs… walk through the Alpilles mountains for an hour or so… 4 km… just follow the “Grande Randonnée” paths that pass a few metres from the entrance to the hotel…one can even walk as far as Les Baux de Provence and the view from the crests of the hills is magnificent. |

the menu is so tempting, with 3 set menus and a variety of wines
including a broad selection of locally produced AOC wines… A rest by the poolside and then set off for Camargue, a 30-minute drive away, to visit the Camargue Natural Park, Saintes Maries de la Mer and the beaches then on the way back, plan a stop in Arles to visit the Alyscamps, the Roman Arena and Daudet’s village – Fontvieille – just 5 minutes from the hotel. Next, just to avoid feeling guilty when read the half-board menu for this evening (dried tomatoes, artichokes, cured ham, olive paste and goat’s cheese served on a mixed leaf salad, followed by fish pot-au-feu and garden vegetables with garlic mayonnaise and salt from Camargue, finishing off with a bitter chocolate gateau and crystallised citrus fruits in Cointreau), pop into the gym. What a day! Tomorrow looks just as exciting: mountain biking along the tracks that set off from the hotel, a tour of Nîmes or Avignon, not forgetting the farmers’ market in Graveson on Friday evenings or the weekly exhibition by painters on the village square in Maussane. Back to the hotel to take advantage of the tennis courts in the pine grove and the week-end is over! We didn’t have time to visit the market in Saint-Rémy-de Provence on Wednesday morning or in Arles on Saturday…We shall have to come back with the children to discover the work done on the bull farms in Camargue, learn to shoot catapults at the castle in Les Baux, watch the birds of prey show in Beaucaire (the only one in Europe) and make the most of all the workshops organised by Les Alpilles Natural Park. LES MAZETS DES ROCHES, IDEAL FOR FAMILIES, ALONE OR AS A COUPLE ! Facilities on site :
